About This Episode
If there’s one vital thing that the pandemic has shed light on, it’s the value of loving yourself and prioritizing your wellbeing. We have heard story after story of people outside or even within our circle – friends and loved ones – who were not able to deal with the impact of health scares, job loss, relational conflicts, and even loss of income.
In this episode, I want to emphasize self-love even more. People tend to discredit its value, often referring to it as a flimsy excuse to be selfish or self-absorbed. But when neglect of oneself turns to self-pity, and self-pity turns to chronic depression, this can even result in the grimmest of all eventualities: someone taking his or her own life.
We don’t even want to think about that worst-case scenario, however, it is a tragic possibility. This is why we need to remember these three whys and for hows when it comes to loving ourselves:
The Whys: Love yourself because…
- Your lifestyle is equally as important to your health as your genetics – so it still falls under choice! (From Episode 17 – From Thick to Fit)
- Your flaws and imperfections are a part of who you are – it allows you to evolve and be better. (From Episode 3 – Get an Understanding of Yourself!)
- You are perfect. You are who you are because that’s how God designed you. – or maybe this should be first? – (From Episode 24 – Your Are Perfect!)
The Hows: Love yourself by…
- Staying in a high vibe through coming from a place of gratitude. (From Episode 31 – Mornings, Movement, and Mindfulness)
- Using your judgment to protect yourself from something damaging. (From Episode 26 – Thriving After Narcissistic Abuse)
- Creating self-care routines that don’t have to break the bank. (From Episode 23 – Bringing Self-Care Into Your Everyday)
- Practicing meditation to silence repetitive thoughts, restore balance, and stimulate healing. (From Episode 22 – Self-Love Is A Requirement)
