About This Episode

Currently, more than 3.8 million women in the United States have been diagnosed with breast cancer and it is a potentially fatal disease that accounts for one-third of all cancer-related deaths in women.

The term “survivor” can mean different things for each one of us. But being a survivor means so much more – it manifests itself in a variety of ways. Whether physically, mentally, or emotionally, being a survivor truly brings hope and inspiration.

As we celebrate and close out breast cancer awareness month, I am joined by Evelyn Thompson, a female veteran, a breast cancer survivor, and my Soror who shares her story of how she conquered cancer during the pandemic. What she went through is truly inspiring as to how she handled herself with grace through the entire process of battling cancer.

There are so many incredible people that are put into the ring with this fight. Just like Evelyn, it takes courage and strong faith to stay positive amidst the struggles she faced, yet she’s here with us advocating for breast cancer awareness and sharing with us her tips and learnings from her experience.

Listen to this episode to find encouragement to soldier on through your own battlefields, stay positive, and be encouraged. As cancer survivors would say: keep your eye on ringing your own bell – whatever that may represent in your own lives.
